PEC Licence Renewal: Documents, Timeline and Mistakes to Avoid

What to check before you pay the renewal challan, the documents PEC asks for, and why the last week of the licence year is the worst time to file.

01Check the engineers before you pay anything

The most expensive renewal mistake is paying the challan while an attached engineer’s personal card has expired. The portal will not accept the renewal until the attachment is valid again, and you lose weeks. Renew the personal engineer card first, then confirm it is still attached to the firm.

02The renewal paperwork

  • Current PEC licence
  • NTN certificate
  • CNIC of the owner
  • The attached engineers’ PEC cards
  • Biometric verification, where PEC asks for it
  • Updated engineer list
  • The affidavit or declaration the portal currently asks for
  • The paid renewal challan for your category

03How long renewal takes

Straightforward renewals often clear in two to six weeks after biometrics and payment. Queries, expired cards and record mismatches add time.

04Do not file in the last week

The last week of the licence year is when everyone else files too. Start well before your licence year closes, so queries can be answered while the licence is still current.

05Missed a year?

Firms that missed a renewal face arrears plus a surcharge. It can still be fixed — but the earlier you start, the less you pay and the sooner you can bid again.
