PEC Engineer Card Renewal: Why One Expired Card Can Stall a Whole Firm

What the renewal needs, how long it takes, and why firms should track their engineers’ expiry dates as closely as their own licence.

01Why firms should care

A firm’s licence rests on the engineers attached to it. When an attached engineer’s personal card expires, the firm’s renewal will not go through until the attachment is valid again, and an upgrade cannot count that engineer’s credit points. Keep a list of every attached engineer and the month their card is due.

02What the renewal needs

  • The engineer’s CNIC
  • The current PEC card
  • Recent passport photographs
  • CPD evidence, where PEC asks for it
  • An employment letter
  • The paid PEC challan

03The steps

  1. 01File the renewal application on the PEC portal
  2. 02Assemble CPD and experience evidence where PEC asks for it
  3. 03Pay the challan and complete biometrics

04How long it takes

Often two to four weeks when CPD and biometrics are already in order. Missing CPD evidence is the usual cause of delay, so gather it before the card is due, not after.

05Renew the card, then the firm

If a card falls due near the firm’s own renewal, renew the card first and confirm it still shows as attached to the firm. Then file the firm renewal.
