NTN, Bank Title and PEC: Why the Name Must Match Everywhere

The most common reason a first PEC file stalls — and the order to get your NTN, bank account and PEC application done in.

01What an NTN is

An NTN is your firm’s National Tax Number from the Federal Board of Revenue, registered on IRIS. PEC and the bank both check that it is in the exact name of the licence.

02Why the names must match

PEC reads the NTN, the bank title and the application together. A missing word, an abbreviation or a different spelling is enough for the file to be queried. The same mismatch surfaces again when a procuring agency checks your papers at bid time.

03The right order

  1. 01Settle the exact firm name, and check it is available on PEC
  2. 02Register the NTN on IRIS with the correct activity code
  3. 03Open the bank account in exactly that name
  4. 04File the PEC application with all three matching

04What the NTN needs

  • CNIC of the owner
  • Firm letterhead and stamp
  • Proof of business premises
  • A partnership deed, for partnerships

05Already mismatched?

If your NTN name does not match your licence, fix the records before your next renewal or upgrade — it is far cheaper than a queried file in the middle of a bid.
